Building an ecosystem for the research and development of Massive Digital Twining at the hyper-distributed Edge of the network for B5G/6G networks
This concept also plays a key role in the concept of Massive Digital Twining, which will run partially or entirely on the Edge of the network, to facilitate the necessary delay, computation and bandwidth.
The Edge concept, which was born with the mere idea of bringing applications closer to end users to reduce latency, has become a pillar technology to enable the support of various mission-critical and data-critical services in 5G and beyond, such as gaming, smart homes, smart factories, smart transportation, smart cities, etc.
Therefore, the Edge is assuming a pivotal role in accelerating the digital transformation of various vertical industries, thus contributing to many societal benefits by enabling cloud-native solutions integrated with 5G and downstream technologies closer to or over the service area
This concept also plays a key role in the concept of Massive Digital Twining, which will run partially or entirely on the Edge of the network, to facilitate the necessary delay, computation and bandwidth.
Project manager
Antonio de la Oliva obtained the PhD. degree from University Carlos III of Madrid in July 2008.
Antonio de la Oliva's technical work during the last years has tried to maintain a balance between industrial and purely academic research. He has worked in multiple European research projects, standing out as Coordinator of the H2020 EU/TW joint actions 5G-DIVE and 5G-CORAL.
Antonio de la Oliva has also participated in several standardisation activities, as Vice-chair of IEEE 802.21b, Technical Editor of IEEE 802.21d and lately contributing to several IEEE 802.11 TGs. Due to his work in the IEEE world, he obtained certificates for hist outstanding contributions in IEEE 802.21b/c/d and IEEE 802.1CF. Due to his work in SDOs, Antonio de la Oliva has applied for more than 20 patents over the last years.
Antonio de la Oliva has also served the research community through the organization of conferences/workshops (IEEE WCNC'18 Workshop Co-chair, IEEE Online GreenCom'13 conference organiser, IEEE SDN/NFV'20-21 TPC Co-chair) and journals (Special Issue for IEEE Communication Magazine, Elsevier PMC and he is actually serving as Area Editor of Elsevier Computer Communications).
